ABOUT US
It all started when…
Lydia Backer, a career-changer working toward a Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago, was paired with a Chicago-area hospice agency, then a hospital working with women with high-risk pregnancies, for her first- and second-year clinical internships. Having immersed herself at both ends of the life continuum, Lydia was struck by the similarities between birth & death, and is now focused on affirming a life well-lived through conversations around end-of-life issues. Like so many people in this field, Lydia’s passion for this work is fueled both by personal experience and professional training. Creativity, compassion and collaboration work in harmony through the programs Lydia and her partners offer, encouraging vulnerability and connection in a safe and supportive setting.
